The Role

Manage assigned team for strategic accounts to successfully deliver automated material handling solutions in line with company requirements, customer needs and within relevant regulations

Promote consistent standards and continuous improvement within the design team. To guide, monitor and develop the team to focus on delivering quality, in budget and on time projects with high customer satisfaction.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work with manager for resource allocation to execute departmental workload; forecasting future resource demands and planning accordingly. Ensure utilization of team
  • Oversee day to day operation of team members including vacation approvals, expenses and performance reviews
  • Ensure that the design process and standard practices are adhered to by engineers.
  • Review, check and approve project related documentation. (i.e. drawings, calculations, data lists etc.)
  • Assist with the system design risk assessment process in line with statutory requirements.
  • Recruit team members, establish training needs and provide coaching
  • Resolve design warranty issues and improve and implement changes to existing standards
  • Build working relationships with other regional controls engineering teams
  • Participate in project work including layouts, calculations, schematics, software design documentation, on-site activities and reviews.

 General responsibilities:

  • Participate in continuous process improvements
  • Perform annual appraisals and monitor the performance of your team
  • Assist the Manager in forming future departmental strategies


What We Are Looking For

To apply for this role you must have / evidence:

  • Essential: Certified technician, HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical/Controls Engineering
  • Desirable: Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Desirable: Previous experience in a similar role
  • Desirable: Extensive knowledge of Dematic products and design tools
